Newmapak Ltd, our agent in Canada for 40 years
By Zalkin Gazette

Newmapak is specialized in turnkey projects for packaging machinery, conveyor systems and related automation devices

Newmapak started in 1971 as a supplier of packaging machinery for the carbonated beverage industry. Our first meeting with Michel Zalkin was at the Salon Emballage in the fall of 1970 to discuss the possibility of exclusive representation for Zalkin capping machines in Canada.

Some 1,500 cappers installed over 40 years

2011 represents our 40th year of collaboration with Zalkin having resulted in over 1,500 installations. As Newmapak broadened its focus beyond carbonated beverages; many installations have been made in the spirits, wines and bottled water industries. Today, Newmapak offers Zalkin machinery to the food, pharmaceutical, chemicals, household and personal care industry. Our success has been built on providing quality packaging machinery with installation and after-sales service.

Newmapak Ltd has continued its growth and has added to its family of products. In 2005 we realized the need to offer more value and decided to create a design and manufacturing division of conveyors and controls This investment has proven to be extremely beneficial and Newmapak has quickly become a major player in the industry by offering it's customers the added value of a 'true' turn-key provider.

Newmapak has seen the growth with Zalkin from the original aluminum closure to the plastic conversions in the early 90's to today's evolution to lightweight plastic closures. Remembering in the early 90's Newmapak converted the entire beverage market (Coca Cola, Pepsi Cola) and others to plastic closures and with an order of some 25 machines and conversions for Coca Cola we traveled to the Zalkin factory to discuss all technical details. Our bubble was soon deflated when Michel thanked us for keeping his factory busy for approximately 2 weeks. All kidding aside, we have never been associated with a company that has been so respectful of its agents in the good and lean times.

The success of our partnership with Zalkin has been based on the quality of capping machinery built, being able to help us when problems occur and the efforts by the Zalkin sales team to be able to answer any question we may have quickly. Zalkin has always been able to stand by their product and ensure a customer's complete satisfaction.

Promotional actions adapted to new market trends

Markets change and so does the way in doing business. We rely on frequent mailings to potential customers and soon will be hiring an additional sales secretary to assume the responsibilities of contacting our current client base and help our sales team. Trade shows in Canada have been overshadowed by the PMMI-USA and various European exhibitions.

Newmapak recently exhibited without any machinery, but relied on PowerPoint, video's and photographs. Our main intention was to remain a major supplier and we were well received. Changes in markets rely on changing ways to promote our machinery and we will continue to make every effort to remain one of Canada's major suppliers of packaging machinery.

I wish to transmit my gratitude to Michel Zalkin for giving us the opportunity to share in our many successes and fond memories.

Wepackit's Green Sealer
By Canadian Packaging Staff

In a joint venture with Liquid Polymer, Wepackit Orangeville, has launched a new greener method of sealing, incorporating the revolutionary patented Liquamelt cold rapid set adhesive. The system is greener, on-demand, simple, safe and more reliable than existing sealing systems. Liquamelt is a Soya based green system which uses
75 per cent less energy.

Features: currently has greater than 40 per cent sustainable/renewable ingredients with a target of 100 per cent; expansion gases are 100 per cent bio-friendly and safe; low odor and non toxic; manufacturing requires low energy processing; excess adhesive does not adhere to metal resulting in easy clean up and maintenance.

Delivered at room temperature all the way to the point of application, the adhesive passes through the patented “Turbo Melter” where it is heated and transformed into hot foam - it eliminates the packaging inefficiencies associated with stringing and nozzle clogging and will not stick to metal. Pictured above with the Wepackit 720 Series Small Footprint case erector, the Liquamelt system is also available with the Wepackit 310 Series of case erectors, case closers and tray formers.

Wepackit erecting, closing and tray forming systems are manufactured in Canada and distributed by Newmapak Ltd. For more information, please call 1-866-993-7225 or visit the Web-site at www.wepackit2009inc.com
