Diageo and ecoSPIRITS extend their global partnership by introducing reusable glass packaging for the Gordan's, Captain Morgan and Smirnoff brands. Their solution, the ecoTOTE, a 4.5-liter keg designed to be reused up to 150 times, aims to reduce the carbon footprint and waste associated with spirits packaging. Initially tested in Indonesia since 2022, ecoSPIRITS' technology is set to be rolled out in a further 18 markets over the next three years.

The system, billed as the first fully reusable glass packaging for spirits, offers significant benefits, such as a potential reduction in packaging costs of around 90% and a 60-90% reduction in carbon footprint. The collaboration aims to reduce the use of 1,000 glass bottles per ecoTOTE. With the first phase scheduled for 2024, this global initiative represents a major step forward in promoting more sustainable practices in the spirits industry
