The rise of private label in-store bottling.

December 12, 2023

The rise of private label in-store bottling.

Liquor stores are standing out in an increasingly competitive market by developing private-label bottlings for their own brands.

This trend involves creating private selection bottlings to attract attention, while offering unique products to customers. While this practice is not new, it is becoming widespread in many liquor stores, particularly with the growth of the whiskey market. However, distilleries sometimes have to limit the number of casks sold due to high demand, as was the case for Heaven Hill Brands.

This strategy is welcomed by stores such as Hi-Time Wine Cellars and Independent Spirits, who see it as an opportunity for differentiation, promotion on social networks and customer loyalty. For these stores, private bottlings also help to generate enthusiasm among staff and create a unique experience for customers.

Despite the benefits, this practice can prove costly for small liquor stores, requiring a substantial initial investment and the ability to sell out quickly to justify the expenditure
